The County Court at Law judge handles the everyday cases: a DWI or other misdemeanor charge, civil cases too big for a JP — and, in many counties, a parent's will and estate, a guardianship for a family member who can no longer manage, and mental-health commitments. Hall practiced law for more than 40 years — redistricting fights, environmental cases for the State, municipal prosecutor — then in 2022 unseated the Republican judge of County Court at Law No. 1. Now he's asking Hays County to vote to keep him there.

He holds three UT degrees — architecture, public affairs and law — is a certified mediator, and lives in Wimberley, where he serves on the boards of Imagine Wimberley and Wimberley Valley Radio and mentors students at Texas State and Wimberley ISD.
